1951 ...

We've Been Steaming Up Traditional Maine Clambakes For Over 70 Years

In 1951 Bill and Phoebe Foster offered the use of their land to put on an old-fashioned Maine clambake to benefit the local Civic Club… from this humble beginning, Foster’s Downeast Clambake was born.

That's Impressive ...

In 1961 our authentic clambakes were included in Betty Crockers Outdoor Cookbook. After that, we got a little famous (really!) and have catered events at the Pentagon, the White House, and for President Bush and Mrs. Bush at Walker's Point. When you visit, don’t miss our History Wall which tells our complete and fascinating story.

We've Grown ...

And of course, over the years we've grown! In the 2000's we built a new pavilion and added three unique venues to offer our customers options in style and capacity for weddings and social and business events. In more recent years we've expanded our catering menus to include chimichurri grill, BBQ, traditional options, and seasonal and Maine favorites.

Foster's Means Family!

Staying True to Our Roots
(Doing What We Do Best!)

For over 70 years we’ve stayed true to our roots and still cook up the most authentic clambakes around. Our tour groups of visitors often return year after year to our original location in York, Maine, for the quintessential New England experience that is a Foster’s clambake.

And if you mention Foster's within ear-shot of local residents, you're likely to hear, "I love Foster's,  worked there every summer during college!"
